Frequently asked questions

Questions about referring a debt.

Practical information for businesses considering commercial debt recovery.

What kinds of debt does CollectIT recover?+

CollectIT launches for Australian commercial debts—money owed to a business by another business or commercial customer. Consumer, regulated credit and other excluded matters require a different pathway.

What do I need to refer a debt?+

Start with the debtor’s details, the amount owed and at least one invoice. Agreements, statements, delivery evidence and correspondence help the assessment, but you can add them after creating a draft.

Will you contact the debtor immediately?+

No. The account and evidence are assessed first. Recovery activity starts only after suitability, authority and engagement requirements are satisfied.

How will I know what is happening?+

Your client portal shows every active matter, its last meaningful update, next action, promises, disputes, recovered funds and tasks that need your input.

What happens if the debtor disputes the invoice?+

The matter moves to a dispute pathway. Relevant contact activity is controlled while the issue and supporting evidence are reviewed. You may receive a focused request for documents or instructions.

Can the debtor make a payment plan?+

A debtor can propose an arrangement through a secure matter link or during contact. A plan is not automatically accepted by the frontend; authorisation and plan terms come from the recovery service.

Does CollectIT take legal action?+

Legal review is a separate decision. CollectIT’s recovery branding does not imply a law firm, and legal action or external cost is never activated by a website button alone.

Is recovery guaranteed?+

No. Outcomes depend on evidence, debtor circumstances, solvency, disputes and available recovery paths. CollectIT provides a disciplined process and a clear view of the outcome.
